エキサイトニュースにおもしろい記事が載っていた。私も少し興味があったのだが、カーリングのブラシの値段だ。

五輪後、突如知名度･人気ともに大ブレイクした競技「カーリング」。

小野寺歩、林弓枝、本橋麻里選手らの出身地である北海道常呂町が「『基幹産業は畜産とホタテ漁』(町役場)という過疎の町」（ゲンダイネット）とやたら妄想をかきたてるエリアであったり、そんな町でごく普通の毎日を送っていた女子高生たちが五輪を目指すまでの感動の青春ドラマが映画化されたりと、サイドストーリーもにぎやか。選手たちのいかにも北の国の女子らしい純粋そうなルックスも、一般的に派手なイメージのウィンタースポーツ界では際立っており、そこがまたイイ！　という声も……。

などと、つらつら書いてますが、やっぱり人気沸騰のポイントは、「見ていてやたら面白かった」という、スポーツそのものの魅力に尽きるのだとは思います。

ということで、今後、始めたい人が続出するであろうカーリング。そんなにわかカーラーのために、エキサイトニュースで初期コストを調べてまいりました！

まずは何をおいても掃きまわしてみたいカーリングブラシ。アイススケートリンク・カーリング用品の専門商社スポーティングカナダによると、ブラシは5,500円から8,500円。実はブラシよりもシューズのほうがずっと高くて29,800円。それから必要なのは手袋。こちらは4000円程度のよう。ちなみに、カーリングストーンは普通は個人で持つ必要はないため、まずはこの３点セットがあればスタート準備ＯＫ。

グッズをそろえたところで、気になるのがプレーできる場所。東京都カーリング協会オフィシャルＨＰ によると、明治神宮スケートリンクと東大和市スケートリンクでスクールを実施しており、これに参加すれば都心でもプレーできそうです。が、な、なんと！　今ネットで確認したら現時点で公開されているスクールについてはすでに締め切り！　ひょっとしてもうとっくの昔にブレイクしてたんでしょうか？　カーリング。
ただし、東大和については、告知が2ヶ月前原則掲示ということで、今後、サイトに随時追加でアップされていくそう。神宮についても9月以降のスクール情報はまだアップされていないので、秋に始めたい人にはまだチャンスあり。

先にご紹介した「スポーティングカナダ」のスタッフの方によると、「やはりみなさん、どこでプレーできるのかに関心が高いですね。弊社では昨年12月に山中湖にカーリング専用リンクをオープンさせて会員制で運営しておりますが、五輪放映以降、体験コ−スのお申込みが増えております」とのこと。こちらの体験コースは大人1000円、中学３年生以下は500円。

なお、「カーリングの町」と呼ばれる常呂町には、カーリングホールがあり、町民じゃなくても1500円でプレーできるようです。きっとあの町には、小野寺選手らのような純朴そうなお嬢さんたちがたくさんいるのではなかろうか……という幻想（妄想）を抱いている方は、確認かたがた旅してみてはいかがでしょうか。

　確か近所の１００円ショップでは、普通のデッキブラシが売られていたのをみて、「あっ、カーリングだ」と今回のオリンピックのことを思い出しましたね。その時に値段のことが気になってはいましたが、調べるほどでもないかと思いそのままでした。そこで上記の記事を読んでビックリ！意外にもゴルフクラブほど高くはなかったっと私は思ったのだが、これいかに？何よりもビックリしているのは、ブレイクしかかっているのかもしれないという情報だったが....。

長野オリンピックのときに男子カーリングが注目されて、それから秘かなブームになっているんですよ。特に長野では軽井沢や岡谷で地道な普及活動が続いているようです。主婦などを中心としたサークルもあったような...。

私も一度はやってみたいです。他の競技よりは何とかなりそうですもんね...。

そうでしたか、失礼致しました。要領はわかるんですよね、ビリヤードのコンビネーションショットと一緒ですので。でも、かなりの精度が要求されそうで難しいそう...。

ブラシよりも何よりも石の高額さに驚きます。
大体１個１５〜２０万くらいで、プレーするためには１６個いるので、２４０〜３２０万ほどするみたいです。
